My passion in life has been and will continue to be, helping others.
Born and raised in what used to be a small town, Wake Forest, NC, I learned at an early age to get to know and love everyone I encountered. As with many small towns, you once could walk down Main Street and know everyone. In today’s world, this is not typically the case. People are so busy in their day to day life, they do not take time to get to know their neighbor. However, that does not stop me from reaching out and getting to know a person. All it takes is one simple step, and next thing you know, you are walking down the life of the person you just met.
Being the youngest of three children, my parents sheltered me and took me everywhere they went. Needless to say, I was always around the elders in our community and I loved it! It is there, in that small town as a youth, I grew to love and respect my elders. I learned a great deal from them. Respect is the greatest gift my parents taught me.
Losing my father suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 66 was devastating for me. I was also the caretaker of my 75-year-old mother in the last years of her life. They both taught me not to take life for granted, and to make each moment count! In their memory and honor, I strive to be the best I can be each and every day.
